About Eclectic Nests

The Story Behind Eclectic Nests

If you're drawn to vintage decor because you want your home to feel personal, collected, comfortable and lived-in, then this site is for you. This About page is where I introduce Eclectic Nests, explain why I created this website, and share the perspective behind the articles you’ll find here.

Who I Write For

I created Eclectic Nests for people who don't just want a polished “vintage-inspired” look. You may be trying to create a style that reflects your own interests, memories, and taste, while building a nest that is comfortable in a way that feels just like you. But finding the right pieces can be harder than it looks.

There is a big difference between a home filled with objects that have character and a room that simply copies a trend. Many people can tell when something feels too generic, too staged, or too easy, even if they cannot explain exactly why. Keep reading if you care about that difference.

How Eclectic Nests Began

Eclectic Nests grew out of my long-time interest in vintage decor, collecting knick-knacks and art, and the kinds of objects that make a space feel individual. I started the site to share the pieces, ideas, and details that caught my attention over the years, and to help other people create homes that feel more personal and less predictable.

What has always drawn me to vintage decor is that the best pieces do more than fill a space. They add life, history, personality, and a sense that someone chose them for a reason. A home becomes more interesting when it includes things that feel crafted and found rather than copied.

That is the spirit behind Eclectic Nests. I wanted a place where I could share vintage decor ideas, distinctive finds, and practical guidance for people who want their homes to feel like their own personal nest.

How I Help

On this site, I write about vintage decor, eclectic style, collected finds, decorative accents, and ways to use older or distinctive pieces in real homes. My approach is not just about following a look. It is about paying attention to what gives a piece presence, charm, and staying power.

That might mean noticing the details that make an item feel original rather than mass-produced. It might mean combining vintage and newer elements in a way that feels natural and lived-in. It might also mean choosing decor that reflects your own personality instead of buying what everyone else is buying.

In other words, I want this site to help you build a home with character, not just assemble a decorating style.

My Background

My name is Joanna Lees, and I own and operate Eclectic Nests.

I have been running my own online business since 2007. Since 2019, I have sold eclectic and vintage decor through my own ecommerce work and online selling platforms. Over that time, Eclectic Nests has served thousands of customers across almost every U.S. state as well as internationally.

Before that, I spent 14 years as a strategic marketing manager at a Fortune 100 technology company. That background taught me how to think carefully about customer needs, communication, and trust. I bring that same mindset to this site: clear information, thoughtful curation, and a focus on what is genuinely useful to the reader.

Eclectic Nests brings together my experience as an online business owner, vintage seller, and long-time collector with my interest in helping people choose decor with history and character.
